Meet Miko, India’s First ‘Emotionally Intelligent’ Companion Robot for Kids

Meet Miko, India’s First ‘Emotionally Intelligent’ Companion Robot for Kids

Manufactured by Mumbai-based Emotix, Miko is India’s first robot that has been designed to interact with children. Costing Rs. 19,000, the robot offers the capability of engaging, educating, and entertaining a child the Indian way.

Miko encourages the children to speak to it by saying “Ask me something”. It responds to questions related to general knowledge, basic maths, performs dances or can do fun stuff likes sing rhymes and tell stories.

Just by using a prefix- “Hey Miko”, Miko responds to the queries. It also teaches children social manners like not to litter around and can play book cricket too.

To be launched in February 2017, However, at present, Miko only understands the English language, which could be the negative point as India is a country where there are several mother tongues and accents. Emotix is working on two other languages namely Hindi and Hinglish.

This could be a giant leap of technology and parenting in India. We do not know what its impact on children will be, but we do hope that Miko helps in shaping up of India’s future.

TECH iPhone 8 Latest News & Rumors For January 25

TECH iPhone 8 Latest News & Rumors For January 25

The Apple iPhone 8 latest news suggest that the tech giant is planning the greatest external overhaul in several generations. Rumors have it that the upcoming iPhone will mark Apple’s 10th anniversary with big, impressive changes like an edge-to-edge display and all glass body. Besides, Siri is rumored to have become smarter and can now learn your behavior.

Artificial intelligence, or Al, is the latest trend in the market. All big the firms want to offer that feature in their products. Apple’s Siri is one of the most popular Al, though it is behind its major competitor. For instance, Google’s combination of voice search, Google Now and Google’s AI Assistant is far ahead of it.

One of the reasons why tech experts consider Siri than Google Assistant is because it can’t answer follow-up questions or access different applications. Now, big Smartphone companies are looking to beat Siri at its own game. For example, Samsung could bring an AI assistant named Bixby to its Galaxy S8. It has already acquired AI startup Viv Labs.

iPhone 8 Latest News: Siri Gets Smarter

Considering the tough competition in the market, Apple will surely update Siri to make it smarter and better. Apple has not responded to the rumors, as per CNet. Apple users will have to wait til iPhone 8 release to know if the rumors have any substance to them.
Famous tech blogger Robert Scoble has posted an exhaustive list of predictions and expects that the iPhone 8 “will be, I am told, a clear piece of glass (er, Gorilla Glass sandwich with other polycarbonates for being pretty shatter resistant if dropped) with a next-generation OLED screen (I have several sources confirming this). You pop it into a headset which has eye sensors on it, which enables the next iPhone to have a higher apparent frame rate and polygon count than a PC with a Nvidia 1080 card in it.”

One of the most disappointing rumors, however, is that a much-raved wireless charging option may not be there. Apple fans had been speculative this feature for a long time but this may not happen. Other rumored features for iPhone 8 include:
Color Variants: Silver, Gold, Rose Gold, Red and a new Deep Blue.
Battery and antennas to be hidden around the edges of the screen

A glass front and back.
A 10-nanometer A11 chip that will be both faster and more efficient

So when is iPhone 8 releasing? As per iPhone 8 latest news, Apple may launch its latest iPhone the firm’s 10th anniversary on June the 29th. Apple is apparently planning a grand launch for iPhone 8 since it receives major changes.

Jio to extend its flagship plan till June

Jio to extend its flagship plan till June, but with a twist

Ever since its launch on September 5 last year, Reliance Jio has evolved into a pool of over 72 million subscribers in four months. The launch offer, which read cheap data services and free calls, will now be extended till 30 June 2017, prior to its previous announcement of March 31.

The six-month trial, which was supposedly scheduled to flag off this year, will be now extended with a new tariff plan. The record-breaking response to Reliance Jio which attracted over five crore subscribers in just over 80 days will be the fuel to keep the 4G VoLTE cellular operator plan alive, which might, in turn, lead to over 7.2 crore users in a little over four months.

The Mukesh Ambani-owned operator will now be charging Rs 100 for data, whereas the voice calls will remain free. Ever since the announcement, the major telcos have slashed their rates in response to the Jio’s offers. The Indian telecom industry and the ruling competitors like Bharti Airtel, Idea Cellular, and Vodafone India are hypothetical and mostly endangered by the affordable services offered by the new entrants. This mass adoption of Jio has forced the other telcos to aggressively join the race.

While announcing the December quarter earnings of the parent RIL, Rel Jio Strategy and Planning Head Anshuman Thakur had told PTI reporters, RIL chairman Mukesh Ambani had set a 100-million customer target in the shortest possible time while announcing the launch early September last year. Anshuman said the point of interconnect has improved drastically but is still 15 percent in some areas. He noted that the figure is three times more than the ideal five percent of call drops.

Though Jio is internally battling the risks of losing its customers, finding a midway between the current, free and nominal charges to the post June charges will be a challenge. Finding a suitable price point which will reflect the market rates and will remain profitable, will remain a mystery for now.

Recently, Reliance Industries invested Rs 30,000 crore to expand its network, taking the total capital invested in Jio to a whopping Rs. 2,01,000 crore.
